I was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, where I currently live with my husband Scott and our beautiful children, Charlie, Benjamin, and Lily Margaret. I realized my passion for photography several years ago.I believe the art of life is about taking notice and being struck by the simplest things we encounter each day. A photograph can capture those fleeting or inconspicuous moments that too often go unnoticed and encapsulate them, stopping time. I work with people, their families and loved ones to make the memories that last a lifetime and we love to revisit in our photographs. I have been a frequent contributor to VIP Jackson Magazine; in addition, my photography has also appeared in the pages of Portico Jackson, Relix, the Northside Sun, and various other publications. I have found it difficult to categorize my work into one genre or specialty, because my subjects have been so wide-ranging.My work is not only influenced by other photographers (including Eudora Welty, Annie Leibowitz, and Kay Holloway) but also by the creators of other types of art that capture the instant, whether it be with the written word or a song. Some of my inspirations include poets Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Henry Thoreau and Billy Collins, and musicians Etta James, Nina Simone, and James Taylor. I would like to give many thanks to Coyt Bailey, Dave Carner, T.C. Perkins, Jeff King, and Billy Krooss, for their influence and unwitting encouragement. Most of all, I would like to thank my husband, Scott Albert Johnson, for helping me learn how to pay attention to my heart.
